Y'all Come Back

I took a long weekend to play outdoors with my younger daughter.
My daughter is 25 and brought along her boyfriend and two dogs in the sub-compact all the way from Louisville KY, where it's been routinely over 100 degrees all summer. We paddled, swam and hiked, barbecued and stacked wood for the inevitable winter. We also drank a few beers on the deck and just talked. Since my daughter doesn't live in the Adirondacks, ("I've already lived in the Adirondacks. I need to try something else.") it is a blessing that she and all my other relatives WANT to visit all the time.
It is certainly cooler here than Louisville (or New York City, for that matter), we have our own secret swimming holes, hikes with a view and favorite paddle routes. In winter, we go sledding and traverse preferred cross-country ski routes, followed by Glog simmered on the woodstove and a board game.
I'm grateful for guests any time of year, although my cat wishes the dogs would stay home.
