Lake Pleasant
Lake Pleasant is the county seat, with Sacandaga Lake (not to be confused with Great Sacandaga Lake) to the northwest and Lake Pleasant to the southwest. The Greek Revival-style county courthouse is next to a stone jail built in 1848 and still in use. The barbecue grill in the back is used to feed jailors and jailed in good weather. Across the road is a nine-hole golf course with lake views. The only incorporated village in the county, Speculator, is located in the Town of Lake Pleasant.
